Lucas Hickman Smith’s Matt Wood gave a short talk last night for artists’ group Kiln, inspired by historian Nikolaus Pevsner’s controversial observation that Lincoln Cathedral is a work of architecture, whereas a humble bike-shed is merely a building.
Several members of staff from Lucas Hickman Smith took to the road on their bikes this weekend to take part in the Bowthorpe Experiment, a Norwich Festival event billed as a fusion of cycling, urban design and film.
Only one Norfolk project and one Norfolk architecture studio were amongst the four winners at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Eastern Region building awards last night. The Awards considered projects from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, so the Pennoyer Centre in Pulham St.Mary did well to win the ‘Community Benefit’ award, and be shortlisted in the ‘Conservation’ category.
