This proposal represents the culmination of a community led process to provide Thompson with a new hall that facilitates a range of activities in the village. The aim is that the building should be a focal point that enhances the life of the village. The principal of siting the new hall on part of the existing Millennium Green has been agreed and the proposals for the new building seek to make the most of the location, embracing the view and reinforcing links with the surrounding landscape.
The building aims to be truly sustainable not just in its construction but also in reducing maintenance and running costs to a minimum. In assessing their requirements Thompson Community Hall believe that a contemporary approach to the design most clearly reflects their aims for the project, combining their functional needs with a simple aesthetic that will have an enduring appeal well into the future.
