Lucas Hickman Smith’s Catton Park education pavilion was officially opened this morning by the Right Honourable The Viscountess Knollys OBE DL. Now named Hayman Lodge, the environmentally sustainable timber building was hailed as a great success, sitting well in the sensitive parkland setting. David Thompson Chairman of the Catton Park Trust presided over the ceremony and those in attendance included various local dignitaries, representatives from the Catton Park Trust, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Greater Norwich Development Partnership and Broadland District Council.

The new building will play a key part in the education of visitors and will provide essential facilities for those working and volunteering on the wide range of projects and activities based at the park. David Thompson thanked both the Heritage Lottery Fund, who provided the original funding for restoration of the park, and the Greater Norwich Development Partnership who funded the new building.
